- Skilled Nominated visa (Subclass 190)
The Skilled Nominated visa (Subclass 190) is a permanent resident visa for individuals who have the qualifications or skills that are needed by the Australian economy.
Applicants for the Skilled Nominated visa (Subclass 190) require sponsorship from an Australian State or Territory. Each state will have different eligibility criteria and occupation lists.
Basic Requirments
To be eligible to apply for a Skilled Independent visa Skilled Nominated visa (Subclass 190), you must have lodged an Expression of Interest (EOI) through the Department of Home Affairs Skillselect system and received an invitation to apply for the visa from the relevant State or Territory.
At the time of invitation to be eligible for granting of the visa you must:
- Under the age of 45
- Score at least 65 points in the Department of Home Affairs points test
- Nominate an occupation on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) or Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL)
- Meet English Language requirements
- Received a positive skill assessment on your nominated occupation from the relevant skill assessment body
- Meet relevant health and character requirements
Visa Entitlements
Successful applicants and holders of an Australian Skilled Sponsored visa become permanent residents of Australia. Australian permanent residents are entitled to live, work and study in Australia on a permanent basis. Additional benefits of Australian permanent residence include access to government-subsidised healthcare (Medicare), certain social security benefits and the ability to apply for Australian citizenship.
